Utah Watercolor Society – Cache Valley Chapter (CVC) President’s Message
Summer is flying by and the folks here in Cache Valley have had a busy summer with lots of great opportunities for camaraderie, plein air painting and participating in the CVC Summer Show. We are a small, but mighty group. Ellen Trickler and Sue Jelus have spent countless hours scouting out great places for us to paint en plein air, including a recent visit to a lavender farm.
Andi Jorgensen, Kent Baker and their team have done a stellar job with the CVC 2019 Summer Show, “The Best of Northern Utah.” Forty-five paintings were entered by members of both CVC and Salt Lake organizations. They are displayed at the Utah Theater in conjunction with the Utah Festival Opera summer performances allowing the show prime viewing opportunities. It is a great venue and I hope that many of you took the opportunity to see the July 12th through Aug 2nd exhibition. Kristi Grussendorf took top honors with her beautiful painting, ” Stages and Seasons”.
With September just around the corner, our board took a day to plan a little and paint a little up Logan Canyon at Doyle Geddes family cabin. Lester Lee gave us some pointers on how to get the most out of our plein air time. The team worked hard to identify speakers, and monthly paint challenges. Monthly workshops are being confirmed that support our overall goals of helping each of us to become better artists and to just have fun painting. I am blessed to be a part of this wonderful, creative, special group of artists. Happy Painting and we will invite everyone to our first meeting the second Tuesday in September (Sept. 10, 6:30 p.m. at the Logan City Library) !!!
