UWS member Brad Kropp (Cache Valley Chapter) and his brother Steve are showing their work in the Logan Library (255 Main St, Logan, UT) during the month of June. Brad works in watercolor and recently returned to painting after retiring from a career in biology. Steve paints mostly with oils and now does landscapes after spending much of his career as an illustrator.

Karen Lee Heffernan
Holladay, UT-Karen Lee Heffernan (74), who loved widely and deeply, and was loved in return by all who met her, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2019, after a hard-fought battle with CIDP. Karen had a lifelong love for art and was an award-winning member of the Utah Watercolor Society.

UWS member, Sherry Meidell, is having a one woman show at the West Bountiful City Offices 550 N. 800 W. West Bountiful, Utah 84087 for the duration of her 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she will be learning the Hakka and how to surf in Hawaii, among other things. She will be posting on her blog  http://sherrymeidell.wordpress.com from time to time. You can see some of her smaller works at Lynda Nelson’s Workshop Gallery at 6237 S. Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, Utah.

UWS member, Jana Parkin, will be teaching a workshop at a castle in France in June 2020. Marouatte Castle, in the Dordogne region, sits on 240 acres of woodlands and looks like a fairy tale castle! Artists actually get to stay at a private room in the castle. Each has a private bath as well. We will also take day trips to the surrounding villages, which are amazingly picturesque and begging to be painted. Fairly nearby are the famed Lascaux caves, and Grotte de Villars with Neolithic paintings dating from 19,000 BC.
Visit janaparkin.com to be placed on the email list for more information about the castle workshop. Or reach out to her directly: janaparkinart@gmail.com.
