STORYTELLING AND THE LIVING LANDSCAPE How to capture life in a sketchbook while living it |

It is so easy to just snap a picture and store it on your phone or iPad. But there is another way to capture a time and place that will cement it into your memory and bring it back to your mind with all the smells, sounds, and visuals that a camera can’t capture. This series of classes will focus on using a sketch book and various media to capture what you see around you. You will be sent links for this online course once you register. Materials * A sketch book (Canson Mix Media 5.5 x 8.5 in. or Canson Watercolor Aquarelle 10 x 7 in.)· * A pencil or pen (Blackwing soft pencil or Pilot black pen)· * Any set of watercolors (from children’s to Windsor Newton,depending on how much you want to spend)· * A waterproof black ink (for example, Pigma Micron 05) or Prismacolor assorted markers· * Masking tape, watercolors, and watercolor brushes First class: February 2, 2022—7 to 8:30 p.m. Drawing and capturing what you see around you in a sketchbook Materials: Sketchbook and pencil or pen Second class: February 9, 2022—7 to 8:30 p.m. Adding watercolor to your sketchbook Materials: Watercolors and a waterproof black ink or assorted markers Third class: February 16, 2022—7 to 8:30 p.m. Painting a watercolor picture together in each of your sketchbooks Materials: Masking tape, watercolors, watercolor brushes, and your watercolor sketchbook The fee for this series of classes is $85. The class will be limited to 25 participants, adults 18 and older. Click below to Register https://entradainstitute.networkforgood.com/events/38786-storytelling-the-living-landscape Bio Sherry Meidell has worked as a professional artist for more than 45 years, starting her career as a graphic designer, continuing as an illustrator for children’s books and magazines, and painting watercolors that have been shown and won awards in regional and national exhibits. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Utah Watercolor Society (UWS), and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. She is currently the President of the Utah Watercolor Society. She has received numerous awards, including best of show at the UWS Spring Exhibition 2015 and the Entrada Institute’s top award at the 2014 Arts and the Park plein air competition at Capitol Reef National Park. She has taught watercolor classes, and over the past decade has presented multiple workshops and classes on children’s book writing and illustrating, art principles, the use of a sketch book to improve skill and confidence, and watercolor painting and technique.
