|May BlastTime to get outside and get painting!Lots of opportunities and goodinformation in this blast.Be sure to read to the end.|
by Sherry Meidell
I spent last night at an elementary school with my arms up to my elbows in water and dye. My husband and I were helping students make sketchbooks with a multicolored, marbled covers. It was art night at West Bountiful Elementary. It was a chance for kids to get there hands into some inky water. It was a way for me to give back. Teaching others, blesses their lives but it also blesses the life of the artist. Taking the things that you know and putting them into actions and words helps cement them into your head and your art. It takes courage to put yourself out there but seeing the light in the kids eyes as they drew there cover out of the water was very satisfying. So spend time painting in your studio but also get out teaching and spending time helping others. And here’s a little plug for Melody Greenlief, if you want to help out with the Utah Watercolor Society Board next year, give her a call.
