MEETING RECAP:
Frank Eber was our National artist who presented our Fall workshop and also our October member meeting. His amazing technique for creating atmosphere and mood in his paintings was evident at his presentation for our October member meeting. His painting demonstration took us from a sketch to a finished painting in a little over an hour. He said that he wanted to instruct while making his audience comfortable, but he said that he definitely is not in the business of “painter-tainment.”
He did, however, get a few laughs as he admitted to avoiding the hard parts of his paintings “as long as possible!” We all could relate! We appreciate fine artists like Frank, who come to UWS to further our knowledge of this “drippy” media that we love!

Frank will be our UWS Fall 2018 workshop instructor and will jury the UWS 2018 Fall Member Exhibition. He will also present at our October Member meeting.
Based in Central California, Frank Eber is a plein air artist continuing in the tradition of the 20th century California Barbizon movement. His body of work inspires an emotional response to Nature, resulting in timeless, enduring artwork.
A closer look reveals subtlety in color, poetic impressions, and serene beauty. “I am very conscious of my edges and never say ‘too much’. I think it is important to leave some mystery, some room for imagination. When you look at the finished piece, it is remarkable what you think you see that is not really there! For me, that is one of the most beautiful things about painting in watercolor!” Conveying atmosphere is Frank’s specialty. In fact, it is the basis of all his work and teaching. Frank currently focuses on watercolor and oils.
