|A Message from our President, Melody Greenlief|
|Are you afraid of paper? Are you letting that blank white paper intimidate you? Do you ever sit and stare at it, afraid to make the first move? Don’t be afraid- it’s just a piece of paper. As I am fond of saying, “the worst thing that could happen is you ruin a piece of paper and learn something”.But, I guess that’s wrong because I actually don’t believe in ruined paper. I save all my ugly paintings. I can turn them over and use the back of the paper. I can cut them up and use portions of them to make greeting cards, or use them in collage. I will save them and go back later with fresh eyes and analyze them and perhaps rework them to see what mistakes I made and what I could have done better. I sometimes will make notes on them and save them so I can remember what I learned. They are my personal art textbook. Every bad painting will teach you something if you let it. So next time you are staring eye to eye with that terrifying white sheet of paper. Just know that whatever you do, you can’t go wrong. No effort is wasted and no paper is wasted.|
