Arts and the Park 2024
This year’s UWS and Entrada Institute 11th annual Douglas V, Snow 11th Plein Air event was held 9-12 October and the weather this year was absolutely spectacular. Guest artist and past UWS president Colleen Reynolds gave a presentation of her winning painting from past AATP “My Old Tree” with tips on Plein Air painting learned from many top artists that pass along their tips for success.

Construction at the Capitol Reef Visitors Center closed the road to the Grand Wash and Capitol Gorge but artists still found plenty of subjects to paint. The show and auction was held at Etta Place in Torrey with a Parisian Salon theme where we all dawned French berets. With wonderful food and beverages of all types, the stage was set with chamber music from Violamore Duo, Leah and Koko Kovach. Before the main event a fun competition to decorate dessert plates with the best desert plate awarded to violin master Leah Kovac for Violin Butterfly.
The main event, the awards and auction. 21 paintings sold during the 3 hour event grossing almost $5,000.

The Blane Clayton Special Award named for Blaine Clayton for his contributions to AATP event and UWS went to Joan Symes. She received a merchandise award and will receive a scholarship to next year’s AATP event.
