$85.00
Eligibility and Requirements
Any artist working in water media on materials designed for water media (watercolor canvas, aqua board), who registers and pays the event participation fees. This year’s fee remains $85 for UWS members and $100 for non-members. This fee covers the entry, and dinner and refreshments at 5:30 pm on Wednesday at Robbers Roost. Artist guest registration is $25 for Wednesday dinner and includes entry into Saturday’s main event at Cougar Ridge.
Note Saturday Night is a $25 ticketed public event – What does this mean? Artists and their paid guests/families have tickets already. This fee is to help cover administrative costs related to marketing, events management, space rental, audio/video broadcast, guest speakers, judges, contracting musical entertainment and insurance coverage.
Competition Guidelines
Artists may submit up to 3 paintings in any combination; and are asked to submit at least one! This year’s event will not include a quick draw event due to restrictions at Capitol Reef National Park (no permit will be issued due to the solar eclipse crowds).
Sales
Paintings are sold at the main event at the conclusion of the plein air late Saturday afternoon between 4:30 -7:30 pm. All paintings entered must be for sale. A 40% Commission is charged on all sold paintings which goes to Entrada Institute programs. Artists must establish a minimum bid (the least amount that the painting will be sold for) and a “buy now bid” (the price that a person can purchase the painting without further competitive bidding).
Paintings must be framed and ready to hang according to the framing requirements.
Framed paintings with completed paperwork can be submitted between 9:00 – 11:00am on Saturday. Entries thereafter will be ineligible for the art show and judging.
