Hi everyone, April has arrived. My favorite time of year I think. Everything is beginning again. I start watching the buds on the trees starting to puff up just before they burst out into bloom, reminding us that we have a “Do Over”. I like to think of it that way. It seems I miss so many things in the Spring because I’m getting ready for some show, or workshop, or other project. The last few years I have totally missed the blossoming trees and bushes until the prime time for taking pictures was past. This year I have vowed to be better. I have been out getting some great new painting references. I hope everyone is taking advantage of their Do Overs. Get out there and don’t miss the simple things in life that are happening all around you. I suspect most of you who are reading this are just like me. We are so involved in taking care of everyone and everything else we forget to take care of ourselves. Much like the airline flight attendants who tell you to put on your oxygen first, so you will be able to help the person next to you. I’m telling you to take a few minutes to do something for yourself. We all need to find joy in the world around us. It doesn’t need to take lots of time. I suggest making a list of things we would like to do and spend a few minutes each day accomplishing our own private goals. It’s surprising how much we can accomplish if we put it on our schedule instead of just wishing we could. I hope painting each week is included in your list. I plan on doing a painting a week. They don’t have to be large, important paintings. I can count it accomplished as long as I pick up my brush. That’s my wish for all of you. JUST DO IT. Until next month, Becky |
