A message from Becky Hartvigsen, UWS Vice President
Well, it’s that time of year again, the beginning of a new year and a time for many of us to make New Year’s resolutions. I found over the years that mine lasted about a week or so and then I’m back to my old ways. As I look at the reasons why this happens, I’ve decided that I set goals that are too big. If we can just set small goals and then work towards them, we’re going to do a lot better. Like any other changes in my life, the small ones seem to be less of a shock to my system. Instead of saying “I’m going to paint every day”, I need to a realistic goal, something I can be successful at, because, let’s face it, we all need to feel like we are winners. As members of the Utah Watercolor Society, we have chosen to join the organization to learn more about watercolor and make friends with the same interests. The Society tries to provide opportunities each month for us to improve in our skills through our monthly meetings and out paint-outs. We also have several workshops coming up being a good opportunity to improve ourselves. Remember that “From a tiny acorn a mighty oak can grow”. Let’s make it the bests year yet! Happy Painting!
