UWS CVC Workshops February Paint-a-long with Kent Baker We will be holding a free workshop with Kent Baker as the teacher on February 10th from 9 am to 4 pm. The workshop will be held at Green Canyon High School in the lecture hall on the north end of the building and is on the Saturday just before our regular watercolor meeting. If you will be coming, please RSVP and let us know you want to come. Email [email protected] so we can get a count for table covers, handouts, etc. We will be painting the same reference photo by Joseph Zbukvic in the morning. We will paint along with the video lesson/demo. This will give us a chance to paint together, have a discussion and learn from teachers that we may not be able to host in person. Kent would love for those attending to complete the first photo drawing prior to the workshop. Attached is the handout for the class instructions. It looks like a great workshop. We will have a break for lunch, so Please bring your own lunch and drinks. Or you can go grab some food. If you want, you can bring a snack to share with the group. Hearing of the teacher’s approval his father bought him a John Gnagy drawing set. That was the beginning of his art education. As a teenager he made many trips to the San Diego Public Library’s art section checking out books about his favorite artists. This led to his appreciation of many mediums and styles of art. After graduating from high school Wali joined the hippies and moved to a remote area in Northern California living with other like-minded people. When not gardening he spent his time building fences, gates, chicken coops and furniture from wood found in the forest or salvaged from old homesteads. An old apple orchard supplied material for crochet hooks and other crafty items. Leaving the woods Wali made his living as a gardener and landscaper and continued doing art and crafts in his spare time. He kept busy painting, drawing, working with wood and making mosaics. Now retired Wali has time to devote to his art. The values he developed in the Northern California woods continue to drive his art. Using found and recycled materials and making do with what’s at hand supplies him with a path in our consumer society. ![]() Gouache with Allie Workshop Date: April 13th at 9:00 am -4:00 pm Where- Green Canyon High School. 2960 Wolf Pack Wy, North Logan$150 for members and $175 for non-members For members code or for any other questions, contact Marsha Dennis @ [email protected] 801-721-5051 ![]() |

UWS 2023 Spring Workshop Iain Stewart UWS SPRING WORKSHOP May 6–10 (Mon-Fri), 2024, 9:00am to 4:00pm Sons of Utah Pioneers • 3301 E. Louise Avenue, Millcreek, UT 84109 Iain Stewart AWS/NWS Iain Stewart is a Scots born watercolor artist and a signature member of the American and National Watercolor Societies among other state and international entities. He has also recently been inducted into the Whiskey Painters of America. His work has received numerous awards in inter national competition and hangs in many corporate and private collections. Iain maintains a studio near Auburn University in Alabama, and in addition to gallery work, is an Architectural Illustrator with an international clientele and has taught watercolor and design drawing at Auburn University where he received his degree in Architecture. Artist’s Statement “I am trained as an architect and, as such, approach painting design with a very similar sensibility. I feel that I need to communicate the vernacular of place in a way that is deeply personal to me. I embrace a dialogue between the real and imagined – seeking a way to allow myself to express my personal feeling of being in a certain setting rather than being confined by the reality of it. That ebb and flow, the back and forth, are what I find important and are my motivation for all of my work.” Iain is a sought after watercolor instructor and juror and has been published in numerous books and periodicals. He has just finished production of his 5th instructional DVD. Iain is an International Brand Ambassador for Escoda Brushes Daniel Smith Watercolors Stillman & Birn Sketchbooks Iain’s first book on painting, “En Plein Air–Light and Color” More information coming Don’t miss this amazing opportunity Click here to see Iain Stewart’s webpage |
