Please READ carefully!
Thank you for your interest in submitting artwork to this Utah Watercolor Society show. Part of our mission is to provide members with the opportunity to exhibit and sell their art.
Please read this prospectus carefully. Your compliance with its terms and conditions is required for entry.
Keys to Online Entry
1) You will need a high-quality image for each painting you submit. Do not include mat or frame in your submitted image. Photographic images of all submissions sent to ArtCall must be properly cropped without edges showing. Improperly cropped images may be disqualified or returned to the artist for correction. Set your digital camera or personal device to a high-quality setting to take the photo. Open, level, crop and adjust your image as appropriate. You will need to adjust the longest side of your image to exactly 1920px. Save your image(s) in a recoverable file or location for later retrieval.
2) When you are ready to enter the exhibition, press the login or register button on this page. All Entrants must have a valid email address to enter.
3) Credit Card payment — You may pay for three entries at once or submit one at a time. Entry fee is $20 for each submission. There will be no entry fee refunds once payment is received.
4) Follow the prompts to input your entry information.
5) Upload your high-quality image(s). If your image does not meet the required specifications, the program will tell you immediately so adjustments can be made.
6) Complete and view entry. You will be able to access and make changes to your submissions up until the entry deadline.
Terms and Conditions for Entry
Compliance with all terms and conditions for entry to this exhibition is required. UWS Exhibition Committee reserves the right to refuse any work which is too large or small, is unacceptable quality, is framed improperly, has damage caused by shipment, or is in non-compliance with all terms and conditions. Any work, once selected by the juror, that is later found to be out of compliance with any term or condition, will be disqualified from exhibition. Any artist who submits work which is later disqualified or who withdraws work once selected, may be banned from participation in UWS-sponsored exhibitions for a period of up to two years. The UWS Exhibition Committee’s determinations and decisions are final.·
Each participant must be a current member of the Utah Watercolor Society. Participants are limited to a total of three (3) entries. ·
All works must be original. No copies or likenesses of another artist’s work or works created under instruction or paid supervision should be submitted. Photo references must be taken by the artist.
All works must have been completed within the last two years and have not been previously shown in a juried exhibit sponsored by the Utah Watercolor Society or WFWS.·
Water media on paper, clay board, canvas, or experimental surface.
Acceptable water media painted in a primarily aqueous manner includes watercolor, gouache, ink, acrylic, casein, and egg tempera. No water-based oils, alcohol-based dyes, or digital art will be allowed. Any questions on acceptable media should be discussed with the Exhibition Coordinator, prior to entry submission.
A work that is primarily collage must use water media paper that has been painted by the artist.
A mixed media/collage work must use at least 75% water-based media in conjunction with other media, such as pastel, ink, crayon, casein, egg tempera, and printed collage papers.
Water media must be the dominant element.·
Unframed image may be no smaller than 100 square inches.
To determine the eligible size, multiply the height by the width of the unframed painting. The resulting number must be 100 or greater. For example, 8”x10”=80 inches (too small for entry) or 10”x10”=100 inches (eligible for entry).·
Unframed image may be no larger than 660 square inches or 22”x30”, not including the frame.·
Framing. Accepted paintings must be framed and ready to hang with wire. Gallery wrapped presentations will not be accepted.
Artwork may have a varnished or glazed finish and may be framed without glass.·
Artists are responsible for following up on their ArtCall entries.
Entry results will be sent by email on the date given in ArtCall.
If you haven’t received an email by the stated date, check your junk mail or spam mailbox first, then contact the Exhibition Coordinator if you still have questions.·
Paintings may not be changed after submission.
They must look exactly like the photos submitted to ArtCall.·
Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of selected work to and from the exhibition venue.
See “Calendar of Events,” above, for artwork delivery and pickup dates.
All delivery costs, including shipping/handling fees where applicable, are the responsibility of the artist.·
Works juried into this exhibition must be delivered for the exhibition dates and remain for the duration of the show.
Artists may not substitute another work for an accepted work, or withdraw the work once selected by the juror. Artists whose work is selected and then not delivered on the designated delivery date to the exhibition venue will be considered withdrawn. Artwork deemed out of compliance with this prospectus’ terms and conditions is considered withdrawn.·
Artwork included in this exhibition must be for sale. A commission of 40% will be deducted from all sales.
No changes in price or other entry details may be made after the submission deadline. By entering this show, the artist enters a contract with the gallery, which will be the acting agent for the sale of his/her artwork.·
While care will be taken in handling entries and artwork, neither UWS nor its representative will be responsible for damage or loss from any cause.·
By entering the exhibition the artist grants UWS permission to publish digital and print images of his/her artwork. This permission exists in perpetuity and images may be used by UWS for the purpose of education, for publicity to promote UWS exhibitions, as well as for digital and print UWS communications.
